Thanks for purchasing our product! Or for just visiting this page!
I hope that this post helps you use and have wonderful experiences with our Pure Ascorbic Acid powder for cosmetics!
What's the Ascorbic Acid?
Ascorbic Acid (or Vitamin C) is familiar and very popular with its powerful anti-oxidant effect. You will just see many cosmetics containing Vitamin C.
Key benefits are:
Boosting Collagen Synthesis: Vitamin C is essential in the synthesis of collagen, a very important protein for firm and youthful-looking skin.
Reducing Hyperpigmentation: It's known as good for dark spots by inhibiting melanin production.
Anti-Aging: By boosting collagen production, it helps to protect your skin against environmental damage.
Before Use.
Just before we talk about how to use it, I'd like to let you know some characteristics of Vitamin C.
Please note that Forest of the Borges's Pure Ascorbic Acid for Cosmetic is a cosmetic ingredient for topical use (cosmetic purposes). *This is NOT a supplement.
The skin can only absorb Vitamin C up to 20%. Higher concentration might cause a burning feeling or cause irritations.
Vitamin C is water-soluble, and it has better absorption with water-based liquids (such as water or toner). You can use cream or lotion with Vitamin C but we do not recommend it.
Patch tests are recommended. And we recommend starting from 5%, then increasing the concentration up to 20%. It can be used for all skin types, but it might cause irritations depending on skin type or condition.
Mix it freshly every time you use (if possible). The powder type Ascorbic Acid is stable. And our Vitamin C packed in a non-transparent bottle with a desiccant packed inside to avoid oxidation. Light & Moisture will oxidize Vitamin C very quickly! (You might have seen vitamin c serum turns orange after 2-3 weeks.)
How to Use.
So we understand that Vitamin C is good and important, and we've got some knowledge! But how should we apply or use Vitamin C powder to maximize its benefits?
It's simple! Mix it with others: Add, Shake, then Apply!
How much should you add? up to 1:4 or 1:5 ratio! (Vitamin C to Other Products.)
For example, simply add Vitamin C 1 tsp. to Water 5 tsp. It will be about 16.7% Vitamin C solution. (Vitamin C 1 tsp. out of the total 6 tsp.) Once again, we recommend patch tests and starting from 5% concentration.
To calculate the amount of Vitamin C for a certain concentration (click here),
Set the amount of the product with which Vitamin C will be mixed. (Let's say A =1 oz. of toner.)
Set the concentration. (B=5%). And the amount of Vitamin C put = (x)
Do a little math! (x) = (A*B)/(100-B) (In this example, x=(1*5)/(100-5)=5/95=0.052 oz. of Vitamin C. The concentration is 0.052/(1+0.052)=0.052/1.052=about 5%.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions!
With Purified Water or other cosmetics (Hyaluronic Acid, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Matryxil 3000, D-Panthenol, and EGF) Vitamin C fits and dissolves well.
Like any other serums, it's important to make sure it is absorbed into the skin and keep the routine constantly for at least 2 weeks.
